PhD Student Registration Infomation

Research students at doctoral level are encouraged to apply to attend this workshop. When completing the ‘application for registration’ form available on the website, you should tick the last work-stream box: Introduction to Cryptography which is designed for attendees with little formal knowledge of the subject, but who want to learn more about the discipline and its applications.

This work-stream is led by Professor Lynn Margaret Batten from Deakin University, who will ask each member to give a presentation to the other members on some aspect of cryptography.

A complete application from you for the workshop comprises:

  1. The workshop registration form;
  2. A letter of support from your supervisor acknowledging that you are enrolled in a PhD research programme in an Australian or New Zealand university, confirming your knowledge of basic cryptography, and describing how participation in this workshop will benefit your career;
  3. A student history (your supervisor should be able to acquire this without cost to you) which demonstrates that you have had some coursework experience (a subject, perhaps) in cryptography;
  4. A brief (200 word maximum) description of what your 45 minute talk would be about if you were accepted.

The above items should be sent as one zip file to by August 31, 2018.
